Top 5 Matches of 2006
Now that all of the televised matches are over for the year....I would like to present to you my top five matches of 2006....
5. Ric Flair and ??? vs. Spirit Squad...Cyber Sunday for the World Tag Team titles...Everyone got to vote on Flair's partner...I thought that the American Dream would win the vote, but it was Roddy Piper. I think everyone knew that Flair and his partner would win the tag titles that night, but it was great fun to watch the legends party after winning the gold.
4. Edge vs. Mick Foley...hardcore match at Wrestlemania...I did not know what to expect from this match, and I did not really know if Edge had the hardcore streak in him. He proved that he did, and winning the match with a spear threw a flaming table is pretty cool.
3. Shawn Michaels vs. Mr. McMahon...no DQ at Wrestlemania(making a second showing)...the ladder...that should say it all to anyone who saw this match....it was by far the best match on the card. Seeing HBK go off from the top of a huge ladder and landing on the boss threw a table was just awesome.
2. John Cena vs. Edge...TLC match for the WWE title...This match might have been number one, but the outcome of the match was certain before the bell rang. Edge had defeated Cena at Summerslam in Boston, so you knew that Edge was going to lose in Toronto. John Cena would also have had to move to Smackdown if he had lost....over all, it was a great match and Cena regained the title.
1...Johnny Nitro vs. Jeff Hardy...ladder match for the Intercontinental Title. We all knew that Hardy could put on a show in the ladder match, but I had no idea how well Johnny Nitro would thrive in that type of match. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, and I enjoyed the fact that I did not have a clue who would win. In the end, it was Jeff Hardy winning the match and retaining the title.
