Memorial Day Raw Preview

Being that today is Memorial Day (a special thanks to the troops, by the way) I did not suspect that tonight's Raw would do much to advance storylines because of a predicted low view turnout. I was wrong....tonight on Raw...Mr. McMahon will announce the new Raw general manager. In addition, HHH will face Kenny of the Spirit Squad. Also, Mick Foley will have a face to face confrontation with Paul Heyman. Any guesses as to the new GM...my pick..DUSTY RHODES....he has been seen at Raw for the past while. Other predictions have included Shane "the Demon Semen" McMahon, JBL, and the Coach.

Do you remember...????

I don't really know why I thought of this at around 10am this morning, but for some reason, I remembered how WCW once had competitons for the best WCW Monday Nitro parties. You could send your tape to WCW, and they would air it on television. The party that won would have the Nitro girls, Mean Gene Okerlund and lots of food show up at their house. I wish the WWE would bring that back for Monday Night Raw.

A sad note....

A few months ago, Koko B. Ware made a return to a WWE ring to take on Rob Conway. A superstar who was glaringly absent was Frankie....Koko's parrot (pictured above, the one with feathers). It has come to my attention that Frankie passed a during the fall of 2005. I think the loss has been hard on Koko, as he was unable to get the duke during the match. If you want to watch this match, or another match featuring Greg "the Hammer" Valentine, click here.

New WWE CD...

The new WWE CD..Wreckless Intent is now available for you to buy. The best place is to go to WalMart or at WWE.com. The CD is also partialy available in the Itunes music store....two songs that I recomend are Burn in My Light and King of Kings.

Raw Results...for anyone who missed

Overall Raw was a pretty good show....When the show opened, we did see a new champion...the Hardcore Championship was unretired by Mick Foley and awarded to the Rated R Superstar, Edge. However, in one of the greatest shows of sportsmanship, Edge decided to share the title with Foley. After this, the hardcore co-champs accepted a challenge at ECW One Night Stand to fight Terry Funk and Tommy Dreamer.

In a match for the Intercontinental title...RVD lost in one of the strangest decisions ever. Shelton brought the belt into the ring, and RVD kicked it into the champ's face and RVD was charged with the DQ.

In another match, John Cena defeated Chris Masters....after the match RVD came out and said he was cashing in the money in the bank at the ECW PPV.

In other meaningful action...HHH half heartedly apologized to Mr. McMahon and promised to crush HBK's skull, which led to a backstage argument. In the main event, HBK took on all five minutes of the Spirt Squad in a match with no ref and no rules. HBK put up a great fight, but in the end the numbers got to him and Spirt Squad injured his leg. However, when HHH came in to finish the job, he took out Spirit Squad, leading us to another DX tease.

The reason for the "injury" is that according to reports, HBK was actually injured and needed the time off to have his knee fixed....look for him to return to the ring around the June PPV...I am still banking that he and Ric Flair will win the title there, perhaps leading to a new 4 Horsemen with Flair, HBK, HHH and a mystery member.

A New Champ on Raw Tonight????????????

On WWE Raw tonight live from Las Vegas, Chris Masters will be taking on John Cena. The Champ is claiming that he will be the first to break the masterlock, but if Masters hooks it in, we might have a new champion. I would not be overly suprised if Masters took the title for a short while (remember building him up as the youngest World Champion??) just to give Cena a rest. However, I think in the end Masters won't be able to see John Cena after being put in the STFU.

In other action....the HHH apology should be very interesting...I would not expect much of an apology to come from The Game. In the other match getting hyped on WWE.com, The Heartbreak Kid will be taking on all 5 members of the Spirit Squad. I think there will be some type of twist to this match, because we have been seeing way to much of this lately. In the end, I think HBK will be close to winning the match, but get screwed at the end, and as usual, I will probably be wrong.

Just a few musings.....

I was looking on the WWE webpage and saw two interesting things as Raw heads to its next PPV.... The first thing is that Ricky Steamboat is making appearances the over the next two weeks as a special referee for Steel Cage matches for the WWE title between Edge and John Cena at house shows. Perhaps someone such as Rob Conway might call the Dragon out for one match on Raw. I would like to see him in the ring one more time. The other interesting thing is that we might be soon to see these guys pick up the Tag Team titles at WWE Vengence on PPV, or I could be completely wrong about all of this.

WWE Judgment Day predictions

I have to admit that I don't watch Smackdown as much as Raw, but they do have a PPV Sunday night, so I will try to predict what is going to happen.

Melina vs Jillian....a sleeper of match that Nitro and Mercury will do something to help Melina get the victory.

Chris Benoit vs. Fit Finlay...Finlay is tough...I saw a table go through his leg once in Jackson, Mississippi. This has potential to be an awesome match, but in the end, I think Finlay is goin to the paywinda

Crusierweight title match: Gregory Helms vs Super Crazy...The Mexicools pick up a title here tonight with the win of Gregory Helms...by the way, is it just me or is the Crusierweight division pretty pathetic now, especially compared to what it used to be in the WCW days.

Kurt Angle vs Mark Henry... I feel that Angle is going to have to much Intensity, Intellegence and Integrety to lose this match. Angle was also the one to leave the Olympics with a gold medal.

Undertaker vs. Great Khali...I hope the Undertaker makes Khali's career rest in peace

WWE Tag Team Championship: MNM vs Paul London and Brian Kendrick...London and Kendrick have dominated this match up of late, and I think it is time for them to hold the gold.

King of the Ring final...King Booker has a nice ring to it does it not?

World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio vs US Champion JBL...as much as it is time for Rey's title reign to end, it won't be to JBL. Why have the US Champion win the World title and carry two straps...its not happening...unfortunately

Check back here and see how bad I was on this one.

HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good news for everyone: Hacksaw Jim Duggan made a return to the WWE on a match against Rob Conway. That match can be seen on the WWE website on their Heat program. I won't tell you who won, but I would encourage you to check out the former WCW US and World Television champion in action. In other action...you should check out the Velocity show and see one of my favorite new wrestlers Paul Burchill....this guy is great, especially if you like pirates.

Top Five Least favorite WWE wrestler....

The WWE has several good wrestler, several great wrestler (future post), but they also have some really terrible wrestler and ideas also....here are my least favorite: Mark Henry: Mark came into the WWE being billed as the world's strongest man (he isn't). He later was the proud father? to a hand that was "birthed" by a 70 year old woman. He is terrible when he does promise, and he is even worse in the ring...NO MORE HENRY The Great Kalhi...not so great, big, slow loser that is soon to be released from his contract. Chavo Guerrero....this might not be well received, but just because his uncle had an untimely death, it does not mean we need Chavo shoved down our throats. Back in the day in the WCW he was great, but now I only wish that his "retirement" was retirement. Candice Michelle...if you can even call her a wrestler. Instead of being on my television every Monday night, I wish she was on Tuesday night. Why? I would probably not be watching. And the least favorite... UMAGA-What the hell was Mr. McMahon thinking with this guy. The Headshrinkers were not great, and UMAGA would be a terrible headshrinker. There is nothing cool anymore with an"untamed animal" that beats down his opponents....maybe in the 80's. Who do you like on this list or who should I have added to it?

Happy Birthday

Best wishes go out today to former WCW World Champion Ron Simmons on his birthday...also belated happy birthday wish to former world champion Vader

Top 5 wrestling gimmicks that should have happened by now...

Wrestling has given us our share of different people with different occupations who moonlight as wrestlers...we had a rock star (Heavy metal Van Hammer); we had a garbage man; a NASCAR driver; an IRS agent; even a movie star champion: But we haven't had these five great ideas, at least as far as I know.
  • A border patrol agent...This idea would have been alot better in the 1980s and 90s when wrestling was being invaded by the Soviets, Iraqis, Quebecs and other groups. This would have also worked against the Luchadors in WCW a while back. Once our agent would have hit La Parka with "the deportation," it would have been over
  • A painter...I know this might be a wierd idea, but our painter could come to the ring with a portrait of his opponent and use it as a weapon everytime. You have to watch out for the dreaded "optical illusion"
  • How about a wrestler that dresses up like the hometown sports team mascot. You could always have the mascot lose, an easy way to get a heel wrestler over anywhere. Imagine seeing Steamer of the Altoona Curve getting a little sweet chin music or tapping out in the figure four.
  • Perhaps wrestling has waited too long for a Technology Support wrestler....he would look like a giant nerd, but when he hit "the reboot," its over BEOTCH.
  • However, I think the best idea is that of an evil priest...not a child molesting priest, but an evil one. He could come to the ring with his full outfit, but only wrestle in the tights and his collar. This could also become a group easily buy adding in a friar, monk and nun. Imagine Kane or Dean Malenko in this role...it would be great. No one would get up from the EXCOMMUNICATION! At one time I thought this would never happen, but I also never thought Mr. McMahon would wrestle "god."

What did I leave out of the list?????????

RAW Preview

What is going to happen on Raw tomorrow night....well you could read about it on the WWE webpage, or you can get my ideas...find out if I am right.... So far, they have been pretty quiet about what to expect on the show but here are my two cents on the matches we know about:
1. John Cena vs. HHH for the WWE title...Cena has had a very long title run, and it has to end sometime. I just don't see the point in doing this match for a third time. In the end, I think Cena will keep his title, but I would not be suprised at all if HHH sits on the throne for the 11th time. If he does...look for Ric Flair to get back in the titlepicture
2. Shawn Michaels vs. Kenny of Spirt Squad...Mr. McMahon has banned the squad from ringside, but there will be a special referee....my guess is that the referee will be a member of the McMahon family. In the end, HBK will survive a screw job and give Kenny some sweet chin music

Top five wrestlers to NEVER become world champion

I already know that people will have different opinions about this post. Let me go ahead and say...if it happened a long time ago(before the 1980's) I will very rarely mention it.... I was not alive then, so it is like it never happened. Feel free to disagree and let me know what you think.

5. Scott Hall....Yeah, I know the "bad guy" had problems with showing up drunk at work, showing up high at work, not following orders, but he was a great worker and always entertaining. He and Kevin Nash had a great run in the NWO, but I always felt that he deserved to sit atop of the wrestling world....now it looks like that will never happen.

4. Curt Henning..aka Mr. Perfect, Curt Hennig...let me get the other thing out of the way...I don't really count the AWA either, so don't tell me that he was their world champion (I don't know if he was anyway..I didn't watch it, so it didn't happen, right?) This guy deserved to be the champ...if David Arquette could win the title, Mr. Perfect should have had a perfect plex to become the champ.

3. Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff...at one time he as just as big as Hulk Hogan, but in Mr. McMahon's world he never got a chance. He should have been the champ at least once.

2. Ravishing Rick Rude...can you think of too many other people to defeat Sting, the Ultimate Warrior, Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes and many other superstars and never win the title? WCW did declare him the "International champion" at one point, but that doesn't count as being the champ...

1. Rowdy Roddy Piper...The Hot Scot makes a great movie about special sunglasses that lets him find hidden alien messages in newspapers, but he never wins the world title. He hardly ever held a title period..that is hard to believe.

So who shouldn't be on the list....Who should, let me know.
